Discover the Delight of Dessert Cream Cheese Dips
Perhaps you’ve never experienced the joy of a dessert cream cheese ball dip before. If so, prepare for a revelation! My own first encounter with this type of dessert was a delightful surprise, leaving me utterly amazed by how incredibly delicious it was. It’s truly a game-changer for anyone who loves sweet treats but prefers a simpler approach to baking.
This particular recipe came into my life thanks to a thoughtful suggestion from Natalie Byler. After she spotted me pinning a similar idea on my “Snackin’ It Up” Pinterest board, she immediately declared, “You are bringing that tomorrow, right?” And honestly, after what had been a tough week at work, the thought of chocolate cake, peanut butter, and cream cheese coming together seemed like the perfect remedy. And indeed, it was! This fabulous recipe was originally inspired by Alyssa’s wonderful blog, ‘What’s Cooking, Love?’ and I’ve cherished it ever since.
The Ultimate Party Dessert: Easy & Impressive
The next time you’re planning a party, baby shower, bridal brunch, or any casual get-together, consider bringing this Chocolate Peanut Butter Cream Cheese Dip. It’s an effortlessly impressive dessert that will captivate your guests and become the centerpiece of your dessert spread. When I brought it to work, I served it alongside a variety of dippers to cater to all tastes. We had classic Nilla Wafers, and for the ultimate peanut butter lovers, decadent Nutter Butters (which were an absolute sensation!). We also enjoyed it with Mini ‘Chips Ahoy’ chocolate chip cookies, crunchy Teddy Grahams, and both chocolate and Honey Graham Crackers. The possibilities are truly endless – you could even opt for mini Oreos, vanilla, or regular sandwich cookies. Get creative with your dippers and watch them disappear!
Why This No-Bake Dip is a Must-Try
The beauty of this Chocolate Peanut Butter Cream Cheese Dip lies in its simplicity and versatility. It combines universally loved flavors – chocolate and peanut butter – with the irresistible creaminess of a cream cheese base. The use of dry chocolate cake mix not only infuses a rich cocoa flavor but also contributes to the dip’s unique, slightly cake-like texture, all without turning on your oven. This makes it an ideal dessert for warm weather, busy schedules, or whenever you need a quick yet impressive treat. Its make-ahead friendly nature means you can whip it up days before your event, allowing the flavors to meld and deepen, making your party planning even smoother.

Pin Recipe
Ingredients
- 1 package cream cheese 8 ounces, softened
- ½ cup butter softened
- 1 ½ cups chocolate cake mix dry
- ½ cup peanut butter
- 3 tablespoons brown sugar
- ½ cup powdered sugar
- 1 cup peanut butter chips I used mini chips
- Vanilla Wafers graham crackers, fruit or other cookies, etc.
Instructions
- In a large bowl, using a mixer, thoroughly beat the softened cream cheese and butter together until the mixture is smooth and completely combined. This creates the essential creamy base for your dip.
- Next, add in the dry chocolate cake mix, peanut butter, brown sugar, and powdered sugar. Continue mixing until all ingredients are well incorporated and form a cohesive, delicious-smelling dough-like consistency.
- Spoon the entire mixture onto a large piece of plastic wrap. Gather all the corners of the plastic wrap, gently shaping the mixture into a neat ball. Transfer this wrapped ball to the freezer.
- Freeze the ball for approximately 1 ½ hours, or until it has firmed up sufficiently to maintain its round shape without being overly hard. This chilling step is crucial for the next stage.
- Spread the peanut butter chips evenly onto a flat plate. Unwrap the chilled cheese ball and carefully roll it in the peanut butter chips, ensuring the entire surface is coated.
- Gently press the peanut butter chips into the cheese ball to help them adhere firmly. Continue this process until the ball is fully and beautifully covered with chips, creating an appealing exterior.
- Place the adorned ball on a serving dish, cover it tightly with plastic wrap, and return it to the freezer for another 2 hours, or ideally, overnight. If frozen overnight, allow it to thaw at room temperature for 20-30 minutes before serving to achieve the perfect dippable consistency.
- Serve your irresistible Chocolate Peanut Butter Cream Cheese Dip with a delightful array of dippers such as Vanilla Wafers, graham crackers, fresh fruit slices (like apples or bananas), or your favorite cookies. Enjoy!
